A to Z Challenge – SUPER cross stitch

W is for Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is from weelittlestitches’ superhero alphabet sampler.

It’s the Amazon princess! Diana of Themyscira is a warrior princess and a demi-goddess – rooted deeply in Greek mythology.

She’s been depicted as strong, vulnerable, compassionate, intelligent, headstrong, willful, and innocent throughout her inked life. Wonder Woman is a pop culture icon that stands side-by-side with Superman and Batman.

This is gonna hurt! Are you ready?

Her superpowers are blessings from Olympian goddesses, including strength, speed, agility, durability, endurance, and reflexes. Wonder Woman is ageless! She’s a master at hand-to-hand due to her Amazonian-training.

She along with Batman and Superman are considered DC comics iconic superheroes or the World’s Finest Team (or the World’s Finest Trinity). For several years in the 1950s, the only three superheroes to have their own comic book were Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.

Now, who’s the damsel in distress?

She’s beautiful and powerful – Diana of Themyscira is more than a pop culture icon. She’s been a role model to little girls and young woman for decades – on par with Batman and Superman in power and popularity.

I love Wonder Woman – from the campy Lynda Carter TV version to the innocent animated Diana of the League. She’s always been the epitome of gender equality and justice for me – standing and fighting with the “boys” of the League.

She doesn’t take crap from anyone – male or female – and some of her villains are straight from the Greek pantheon , which makes my inner Greek mythology nerd squee!

Check out this lasso!

I’m SUPER excited about the live-action solo film Wonder Woman that is set to be released in 2017. However, I have yet to see Gal Gadot’s depiction of Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which is her first live action theatrical film appearance.

She was first added to the DC animated universe on Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. Wonder Woman appears in Batman: The Brave and the Bold and Young Justice.

Wonder Woman is from fangirl stitches’ girl power superhero comic book alphabet.

She stars in the animated feature film Wonder Woman. She appears as a main character in Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths. Wonder Woman appears in several direct-to-video DC original animated films, including Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, Justice League: Doom, Justice League: The New Frontier, and Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox.

Probably not surprising, my post for the day featured Wonder Woman as well.

I know, right, but she is a good choice. Wonder Woman was another character that was patterned on both alphabets.

I’m looking forward to the live action WW too only after Aquaman! I love Diana. And yes, the Greek myth freak in me is squealing too. ♥

Yay! Another Greek mythology nerd! I’m looking forward to both of those upcoming films – I’ve loved the DC animated universe, and I am looking forward to the live-action films being released in the coming years.

Fascinating! Superb theme, and can’t believe this month is about to wrap up.

Thanks. And I know… this month has been SUPER intense. I should have stitched more when given more time – I waited til the last minute on some days.

I did everything last minute. Sigh. 😥
